FAQ

1. Who can get membership of the library?
Only students enrolled in the college and faculty members can get membership of the library.

2. How can I get Library Membership Card?
The library registration form is available online https://jtgdc.ac.in/library/download-library-forms for newly admitted students. They can download it and submit the same with one photograph and photocopy of the fee receipt. The library registration form is also available in the library.

The students in further years have to renew their validity of cards by producing marks-sheets of the last years.

3. What is the loan period for a book?
It is seven days for textbooks.

4. Can I get reference books and journals from the library?
Reference books, journals and magazines are available for consultations only, and can’t be issued to students.

5. What is DELNET?
Developing Library Network, New Delhi (DELNET) is a network of libraries. Users of member libraries can get reading materials online, on loan and as photocopy. Charges are applicable on prints as photocopy charges with transmission charges.

6. What if INFLIBNET?
Information and Library Network, Ahmedabad (INFLIBNET) is also a network of libraries maintained and served by INFLIBNET, Ahmedabad which is a sister organization of UGC, New Delhi. Only academic libraries can participate in INFLIBNET as member libraries.

7. What are online databases?
Online databases are databases of books, journals or other study materials. Some of them are available without payments and some need payments (and therefore subscriptions). Subscribed databases are availed either in institute premises or served through usernames & passwords.

8. What is National Digital Library (NDLI) and why it is requested to take membership of it?
National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a pilot project under National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) by MHRD. It is being developed by IIT – Kharagpur and is intended for life long learning. Almost all the resources are in open access, however signing in through some institutions has advantages to the participants.

You can get membership by yourself which is free or contact the library also to do the same.

9. Is it necessary to visit the Digital Library to access the online resources?
No, it is not necessary. You can do the same from anywhere in the college campus. You can also make access from your laptops after taking WiFi connectivity from the college.

10. Can I access databases from my home?
The databases accessible through usernames and passwords are accessible from anywhere anytime. Databases available on IP address needs availability of remote access services which may/may not be available in the institutions.

11. I have failed in my university examinations. Can I get library services?
No, Library services are available to regular students only. You can get limited services of the library.
