Achievements
- The department has been declared as one of the advanced departments of the College under College with Potential of Excellence (CPE) Scheme by UGC in two consequence phases in 2010-11 & 2014-15.
- The department has been elevated as Post Graduate department in 2018 and started M.A. Course in Geography.
- In 2022-23 session, the department has started PhD course in Geography after approval of University of Allahabad.
- UGC has approved PG Diploma in Geoinformatics under UGC-NSQF Scheme in 2020-2021.
- Department of Geography has started Eight Week (40 hours) Add-on/Certificate Course on GIS & GNSS
- Many students have been qualified UGC NET-JRF exam and many of them get enrolled in Ph.D. in various Institutions. Also, many of the students have cleared Government exams
- The department is also recognized as nodal center of IIRS-ISRO outreach programs (Co-Ordinator: Dr. Darshan Kumar Jha) on remote sensing and GIS since July 2020 and regularly conducting online courses on Remote Sensing & GIS offered by IIRS.
- Geographical Excursion & Educational tour has been organized for students.

Important Workshop/Lecture/Programs Organised
The department has been visited by national and international scholars and various special lectures were organized for the students.
- Organized the Faculty Enrichment Programme on Recent Trends in Research Methodology in every year under CPE scheme
- Workshop on ‘Digital Photography & Videography’ for enhancement of the career skill among students organized by the Geog. Dept. & Multimedia center.
- Workshop on Basics of GIS & Remote Sensing has been organized regularly
- Workshop on Travel and Tourism has been organized every year
- Interdisciplinary lecture was organized on ‘Hindustani diaspora of Surinamis in the Netherlands’by Dr. Chan E.S. Choeni, Prof. Diaspora Studies Lalla Rookh Chair, University of Amsterdam Netherlands.
- Special Lecture by Dr. Komali Yanetti, Faculty at University of New South Wales, Siddney, Australia on Hot and Smart Cities: Urban Heat, Risk and Resilience in India in March 2019.
- Organised One Week Online National Workshop on e-Learning and e-Content Development for Teachers and Research Scholars in July 2020 during COVID Pandemic.
- Ogranised Webinar Lecture Series on Frontier of Geography in May 2020 during COVID-19 Lockdown
- Every Year the Department is organized student Academic Activities- project/assignment, essay competetion, map drawing competetion, discussion, paper reading & quiz competetion.
